Moses prayed and asked God, “show me Your way, that I may know You.” The Hebrew word used and translated “way” is DEREK (deh’ rek) and refers to His manner, habit, way: of His course of life, and of His moral character. So when we understand God’s course of action in the things of life and what His character is like... we will then understand and know Him.
God reveals Himself to us by the course of action He takes concerning everything that we need to live. And of course the Scripture tells us that He has provided for us everything and even more than what we need to live and live a godly life.
In the Old Testament God revealed who He was by His different names and titles: El-Shaddai, the all sufficient one; Yehovah-Hoseenu, the LORD our Maker; Yehovah-Jireh/Rapha/Nissi, the LORD our provider/healer/banner; Yehovah-Elohim, Creator and Ruler; and so on and so on—The New Testament is the same... Savior, King of kings, Comforter, Helper, Prince of Peace and so on, but he also demonstrated what He is by: healing the sick, feeding the hungry, provided the financial needs to pay taxes and delivering from our enemies and even death.
When we study God’s character and how He acted in different circumstances we will see that He is the same yesterday, today and forever. Let’s earnestly pray and seek to know God’s ways.
Father, show me Your ways so that I may come to know You. The more I know You, the more I will trust in You. And then like Moses, I too will find grace in Your sight. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
