The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble, those who know Your name will trust in You, for You, LORD have never forsaken those who seek You.
Have you ever thought you knew the meaning of a word, and yet you really didn’t know it? At least you weren’t thinking or responding like you knew it. When I was young, I had “often” been oppressed by others, and because of that I developed an attitude to fight for what was right. Even though I had seen this verse many times, I wasn’t relating to the meaning of the word—to that unfairness those in authority had done to me. Oppression can come by
many sources other than the law—as I’ve never been in trouble with the law—But how about parents, teachers, employers, aunts and uncles or anyone who is older than you. The funny thing about society (no matter which generation you grow up in) is if a person is falsely accused too often, it causes even those closest to you to doubt you also. You then have know one to turn to, or so I thought. Until one day, while coming across this verse again—the
Lord told me to look up the meaning of the word “oppressed” I think your missing something. So I did. It gave me joy and a peace that I won’t ever forget. If God is on our side, what difference does it make what others think of
us.Notice this verse says that not everyone will trust in the Lord. I wasn’t at
first—mainly because I wasn’t making that connection to what was said. Those of us who are already Christians, we’ve probably read many of the promises God has provided for us—But one day, when we are ready to take more in, His light will come. And we will finally see what the Lord has been trying to show us for some time. I thank Him for His patience with me. If we keep to His Word, it will come to us—That’s why it says, “those who know Your name will trust in You.” Brothers and sisters, we aren’t waiting on God, He has done all that’s needed to be done. But He patiently waits on us to understand and trust Him. We can’t trust in someone who we don’t know. Walk with Him daily in His Word.
Father, You are solid, faithful and we can trust in You to bring us to a better place. Thank You for your patients. You are truly a comfort to me at all times. I enjoy getting to know You and all of Your goodness. You are my Life and the very air I breath. Amen.
