Many times after meditating on the Word of God we become fired up and ready to concur the world or anything that comes our way—even diseases or sickness that may have attached itself to our body. But the moment that victory seems to tarry a bit too long (before we have seen evidence of its manifestation) we tend to go to sleep, in the same way that the sun settles down for the night—we also lose our fire and become quenched by the long haul of it all.
When Jesus healed the sick, not everyone received their healing instantly. And just as some crops need a longer season (growing time) so must some victories have a longer due season. But if we are patient, and do not faint—If we don’t let the sun go down on our wrath (those things we are fighting against), we will see the victory that we saw when first fired up by God’s Word.
You may ask, ‘How do we keep ourselves fired up for God—built up so that we do not faint.’ To answer that, lets look in Jude 1:20 “But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit.” When we pray in the Holy Spirit (in tongues) we build up ourselves and keep us strong and in the faith. Another verse is I Corinthians 14:4 “He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church.” I know many people explain these verses away, but Paul is clearly speaking about the different uses of speaking in tongues and in prophecy and then explains that if you speak in tongues in the church and have interpretation then it too edifies the church as does prophesying.
Bothers and sisters in the Lord, keep yourselves in the love and faith of God so you are built up (fired up) and able to stand, not letting the sun go down on the promises you are receiving.
Father, open our eyes to Your truth that these gifts You have given to us, are for us while here in this world--that You have given them to us to keep us strong; may we see that this unknown tongue that You give to us is a mystery which we speak to You and the means by which You use, to build us up strong in Your faith.. And also is a way we can praise You in a more perfect way. Thank you Lord. In Jesus’ name Amen
