God has placed before us a ‘great supper’ and we have been invited to dine with Him. How many of us, are like those in this parable who make excuses—maybe not really intending to reject His invitation, even tho we do? We are too busy with worldly tasks and even duties of the church, that we never dine at the banquet He has prepared for us. (I have been guilty of this too).
What is this banquet or supper He has prepared for us, you may ask? God warns us about the ways of this world, how it chokes out the things of God in our life, yet it seems we don’t have ears to hear what is being said—or, have we chosen to believe the lie instead of the truth (as Eve did), things like: “God didn’t really expect you to go overboard with your belief. “ “You don’t want to appear so religious that you are no earthly good, do you?” and, “We do have to live in this world.” Have you heard any of those before? Me too. There’s no truth in them, and they keep us from dinning with Christ. We pray for revival, but we don’t want to change our way of doing things. That’s crazy, to want change without changing our actions. Isn’t revival just people feasting on the great banquet that Christ has set before us? Jesus has bid us to come and dine with Him, what is your response? He has laid before us everything that we need to live a godly and good life... everything that we need for our Salvation... for our redemption... all we have to do is feast at His table. Taste and see that the Lord is good.
Father, I want to dine with You. I want to daily sit at Your table and truly come to know You. I want to eat from the only table that can satisfy my soul. Fill me Lord with your delicacies that I will want no other. In Jesus’ name, Amen
