One of the things I always remember as child is how my Dad carefully watched over and always protected us from danger. I believe this to be true about many Dads. Yet too often as Christian’s, we think our heavenly Father would do less for us, keeping us in a world full of demons and even the devil himself. We do not truly know God if we think that. Colossians 2:15 clearly shows us that Christ defeated Satan and all principalities and powers. God did this through Christ because He loves us.
You may think, If that is true, what is the battle we are fighting against then? The Word tells us in II Corinthians 10:4-6 that this battle is within our mind—our thought life. The only way Satan can come against us is by deception., but he is a master deceiver. If you take the time and study these things out, you will find that every place the Bible speaks about Spiritual warfare it is within the mind (our thoughts). Listen to the warning in Colossians 2:8 “Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.”
Philosophy is at way of thinking. Satan cheats us by causing us to think a certain way... a worldly way that is different than God’s way. The battle that we see depicted in Daniel is over, Christ won that battle on the cross. That was the Old Covenant, and we now have a New Covenant. God, in Christ has disarmed all principalities and powers. You might say, our life now is likened to a court hearing., Everything you do or say in this Hearing you will be judged accordingly. When Christ returns then God will give His judgment, the final verdict of what sentencing He will place on each one. Those who have Christ, will be judged according to Christ, and not according to ourselves. Praise God for that. But those without Christ will be sentenced to the second death... the lake of fire.
Father, open our eyes to the truth about Your victory so we are not deceived nor living in fear of a defeated foe. Help us see the goodness and love You have for us and would never leave us in a harmful place. Because of this and more, You are worthy Lord.
