“God is light, And in Him is no darkness at all.”
God is light! There are so many ways we can think about this. What is something you know about light that is also true about God? When I turn on a light, it helps my natural ability to see a lot clearer. I find that even the smallest amount of light can chase darkness away. In fact, darkness has no power at all—only what you allow to stay. If you stay in darkness you will have trouble seeing clear, but the moment you shine light on that darkness, it must leave—It has no power to stay. That’s amazing. If we think deeper about this truth—In the same way that darkness must leave in the natural, so it is true in the spiritual. Everything associated with darkness must flea also, whether sickness, disease, poverty, or any temptation you are dealing with at the time—When we allow the light of God’s Word to shine in our whole being.
Another amazing truth this verse tells me, is that once I am born of God, “ALL” my sins, (past present, future), was removed from me, as far as the East is from the West. Sin is darkness, and if I am “in Christ”, which I am—and there is no darkness in Him—Then there can be no sin left in me. (I John 3:4-9) If I were still sinful, then I could not be in Christ. The Scripture is so full of different ways to assure me of that truth. Christ took upon Himself my sinful nature and gave to me His robe of righteousness, that I might be Born Again of God. I now abide in Him. I was nothing, and He gave me everything. This truth is in my spirit, and I am commanded then to renew my mind (soul) to this truth, so that I will also walk in His truth. How much I renew my mind to this truth, determines how successfully I am in my walk with Him.
Father, I ask that Your light so shine in me, that all the world can see Your truths--that they will see You in me, and know that You are alive. Teach me to be more selfless, so You can do the work You have planned to do in us and through us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
